The best exercises are the ones that you enjoy (assuming they meet the first 2 requirements) doing. If you don’t enjoy it, there’s a great chance that you won’t even do it. And if you do, you’ll probably slack off. It can even result in some negative effects, like a laborous job that you wouldn’t like. By doing routines that you enjoy, there’s a far greater chance that you’ll do them on a long term, regular basis. You’ll also reap the psychological benefits of doing something enjoyable. Take a brisk walk in the park, or along the beach shore. Play with the kids. Play a sport that you like. Just make sure you like it!

JDA Software Highlights Strategies for Semiconductor Demand Planning During the Economic Recovery

SCOTTSDALE, Ariz. — Semiconductor manufacturers are in a quandary as the economy recovers
and customer demand changes. The recession fueled an intense round of
cost cutting and capacity reduction. Despite todays increasing upturn
in demand, many semiconductor companies are still uncertain if or how
they should make new investments in labor and production in order to
meet market demand. As a result, they are facing a growing list of
supply chain challenges such as product supply shortage, longer lead
time and delayed deliveries to customers.

With order backlog and book-to-bill ratios beginning to show signs of
stability and growth, many semiconductor companies are rapidly shifting
gears, trying to capitalize on the global economic recovery, said Puneet
Saxena, senior director, industry strategies, JDA
Software. But meeting panic demand in the aftermath of aggressive
supply-side adjustments is much easier said than done.

JDA offers the following recommendations to help semiconductor
manufacturers address supply shortages and capture growth opportunities:

  • Create forecast confidence bands to attend to higher priority
    forecasts first. To proactively plan for demand surges,
    semiconductor companies should adjust to operating in a
    capacity-allocation mode by segregating forecasts into a range of
    high- and low-confidence forecasts. Instead of trying to produce based
    on forecasts for all customers, they need to focus on high-confidence
    forecasts first, and then address the lower confidence forecasts as
    capacity becomes available. The end result will be an ability to
    provide supply across a wider set of customers.
  • Establish business rules to prioritize enterprise-wide demand for
    different customers and products. Once forecasts are segregated
    into high and low confidence bands, the question turns to which
    high-confidence forecasts should be prioritized first. Difficult as it
    may be, semiconductor manufacturers must learn to be strategic about
    their customers and separate the more critical orders from the lesser
    ones. Establishing rules to prioritize demands in order to attend to
    the more significant customers and larger orders, semiconductor
    manufacturers will better serve all customers.
  • Implement rapid sales and operations planning (S&OP;). When
    dealing with supply shortages and low demand visibility, semiconductor
    companies must recognize the need for cross-functional synchronization
    to keep the entire organization in tune with the most current view of
    demand. Many semiconductor companies are investing increased resources
    in creating a stronger S&OP; process to better synchronize allocations
    cost reduction strategy

Either way, it should be sketched very approximately to start with, making sure that the overall basic dimensions are in proportion, then the increasingly finer details can be added. The subject of the painting should be something close to your heart. Invariably, the more interest you have in a subject the more success you will achieve. Large areas of the background should be painted first, allowing sufficient time for drying in between coats. Some people tend to wipe the surface after each coat with half an onion in order for subsequent layers to be absorbed better. Foreground details and finer details are added last. A final coat of lacquer can also be added.

These are only some of the basics of creating an oil painting.

scrapbook. Here are some ideas to get you started:

- Cards from family and friends

- Program from graduation ceremony

- Newspaper clippings

- Report cards

- Achievement and/or award certificates

- Senior party mementos

I will finish off the scrapbook with graduation stickers from a
local craft store.

A graduation scrapbook doesn’t have to be a work of art. The
important thing is to preserve the memories of your graduate’s
big day.

This would be a great project to do with your teen. If they
would like to tackle the project themselves, give them all the
supplies and let them unleash their creativity. My daughter
loves the finished project, but is not much interested in
scrapbooking, so she is more than happy to let me do it for her.

Firm to lead hunt for staff in Pounds 400m new schools plan

A HESSLE-based recruitment agency will be helping local jobseekers capitalise on the city’s groundbreaking Building Schools For The Future (BSF) programme.

The Pounds 400 million BSF programme is already under way at sites across the city, heralding the start of an exciting new chapter in Hull’s educational offering.

Now, Times Top 100 construction company Sewell Group has named Emmerson Kitney as its regional recruitment partner after a rigorous process that saw the firm pitching against other regional, national and international recruitment agencies.

David Kitney, managing director, described it as a real coup for his company.

He said: “We’re delighted to have become the partner of choice with Sewell Group in such a pioneering project.

“Pupils in Hull are this year celebrating record GCSE results after years of languishing at the bottom of the league tables. The Hull BSF project will build on that success.

The Esteem Consortium, which comprises Hull-based Sewell Group, Morgan Sindall Investments and Robertson Capital Projects, was awarded the Pounds 400 million contract to reconstruct and remodel 17 of the city”s schools in November 2009.
